These days we see that regardless of their size and financial muscles, many business houses are limiting their activities and some are even closing their operation permanently in the highly competitive business world. This may be because they lacked knowledgeable and skilled business leaders who could successfully manage and run the entrepreneurial organization. So, to prepare and produce accomplished and highly professional business leaders who are competent enough to lead any business organization, Rajarshi Janak University (RJU) introduced the Master of Business Administration (MBA) under the administration and supervision of the Faculty of Management. This MBA program aims not just to produce human resources who can successfully manage business activities but are also willing to take calculated risks to make a profit for future expansion and growth.
The RJU offered this academic program to produce business leaders and competent managers with strong theoretical backgrounds to support their business skills. The University expects its graduates to develop soft skills like negotiation, communication, adaptability, and others enabling them to become successful business leaders.
The MBA at RJU is a two-year, 60-credit-hour, four-semester full academic program offering Foundational Courses, Core Courses, Specialization, and Elective Courses. These courses are administered so that students develop leadership capabilities with rich theoretical concepts to support their polished business skills.
First-semester students will go through Foundational Courses which develop their understanding about the successful operation of business activities. The enrolled students will be able to sharpen their managerial skills through courses offered in the Second semester. The remaining semesters prioritize Capstone, Elective, and Specialization courses to hone business and managerial skills.
Students, in the third semester, gain real-life work experiences while working in business organizations for 8-10 weeks as required by the Attachment (Internship) Program. A well-structured, Attachment Project Report (APR) prepared by interns is confidentially evaluated by Dean-office appointed internal and external examiners. The host organization shoulders the marks responsibility of 40% while 60% is assigned to a seminar presentation by the intern.
Exclusive to the last semester is the dissertation that allows candidates to gain fieldwork and empirical knowledge in the engaged topic. Evaluated by Dean-office appointed internal and external examiners, viva-voice and report writing bear marks responsibility of 40:60 respectively.
The overall course structure for the MBA at RJU looks as expressed below:
Courses | Courses Offered | Credit Hours |
---|---|---|
Foundational and Analytical | 5 | 14 |

The MBA at RJU is a cross-stream academic offering. A Bachelor's level graduate from any recognized University may apply. Besides the usual Entrance Examination administered by the University, previous academic records and performances are also consulted along with writing skills and in-person interviews. The admission committee is the final authority for enrolling students.
A semester comprises 90 working days or 450 hours, and students are expected to complete the entire course within four semesters or two years. Only those who finish the complete course cycle within four years are considered eligible for graduation.
Students' performance is continually judged through a sequence of well-developed in-semester and semester-end examinations. Classroom participation, term papers, tests, assignments, presentations, etc., are consulted for in-semester evaluation.
A three-hour semester-end examination (for a 2-credit-hour course) and a four-hour semester-end examination (for a 3-credit-hour course) are administered to evaluate students at the end of each semester.
